Huawei P-smart Review: A Fantastic Budget-Oriented Smartphone

P-smart is a great way to get an extremely 18: 9-inch phone on a smart price, especially the budget hot range is still stuck with 16: 9 display. There is a common compromise with the camera’s quality and raw power at this price.

Key Features

Review Price: £230
5.7-inch 1080p screen
3GB RAM
32GB storage
The 13-megapixel camera
HiSilicon Kirin 659
3000 mAh
P-smart has a construction style that, like a thick and honorable, is not easy with a more expensive phone.
  • 3.5mm headphone jack
  • Rear-positioned fingerprint scanner
  • Aluminum body
  • Glass front
  • Low surround design
Huawei P smart work is not to encourage you like iPhone X. It seems only nonsense, but good enough to spend 3-4 times and needs to feel.
Huawei P smart has done a good dressing, which improves mid-range construction as an advanced range. Let’s deal with it first.
The border rectangular anodized aluminum by two luminous Solomon Strips. But above and below, caps are plastic. However, the Huawei P Smart also has a micro USB charge socket Instead of USB-C While the advantages of the real world can be able to plug in just any way around it, and this viewpoint is estimated at the same time as future USB items that support for headphones.

Screen

  • Trendy 18:9 aspect ratio
  • 1080 x 2160 resolution
  • IPS LCD panel
In 2017, large (say 18:9) screens were the new fashion but now it’s clear that you can have one even if your budget won’t stretch to even a mid-range phone such as the Honor 7X.
Starting with the screen, with a 2160×1080 resolution, it’s 5.65 inches. It gives a decent pixel density of 428ppi, which means everything looks good and sharp. Colors, contrast and brightness combination are all decent, too.
In the usual Huawei tradition, there’s a factory-applied screen protector to keep the display scratch-free, but there’s no case in the box. Instead, you get some basic headphones along with a USB mains charger.
The tall screen doesn’t leave any room for a fingerprint sensor, so it’s on the back of the phone. With many phones taking this approach, it is becoming the norm and it is easy to adapt: your finger comes to the sensor when you pick up the phone.
Sim Slot

Unlike most of the Honor 9 Lite, the Huawei P Smart is a single-SIM phone rather than dual-SIM but it still has the slot for a microSD card to enhance the 32GB of onboard storage.

Storage

  • CPU Octa-core (4 x 2.36 GHz Cortex-A53 + 4 x 1.7 GHz Cortex-A53)
  • Chipset HiSilicon Kirin 659
  • GPU Mali-T830 MP2
  • Built-in 32GB Built-in, 3GB RAM
  • Card microSD Card, (supports upto 256GB) (uses SIM 2 slot)
Which means 3GB RAM and the processor is also identical.
The P Smart will happily run games such as Pokémon GO smoothly with no jerkiness. You’ll never see high frame rates from standards (such as GFXBench Manhattan test) but it doesn’t mean that it can’t run more and more games at an acceptable speed.

Connectivity

In terms of connectivity, you get GPS, Bluetooth 4.2, 802.11n Wi-Fi (just 2.4GHz single-band) and NFC. Unsurprisingly at this price, there’s no water resistance.

We Get Dual Camera

The dual-camera setup is much like Honor’s: you get a 13Mp main shooter with a secondary 2Mp camera whose only function is to supply depth information: it’s not for taking photos.
It does mean that you can take portrait photos with blurred backgrounds, as well as a ‘wide aperture’ effect which does the same thing when you take landscape pictures.
There’s a single 8Mp camera around the front too. There is a Portrait mode when using the front camera, but using it makes no noticeable difference!
Video capabilities are somewhat limited compared to more expensive phones. The maximum resolution is 1080p at 30fps and there’s no stabilization to speak of.
It can track objects, but that’s about the only extra video feature you’ll find. Oddly, there’s a Pro Video mode that allows you to focus manually, choose the white balance and change exposure settings. Many of us cannot imagine any of these options, though it’s always good to get more control over.
HDR is, sadly, also a dedicated mode and won’t be enabled automatically for photos.
In any case, the cameras aren’t wonderful. Selfies are perfectly acceptable, as are some shots from the rear camera in good light.
